About Limestone
Limestone means any rock made mostly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), but for geologists, calcareous is only one of many types of “carbonate rocks.” Such rocks consist of more than 50 percent of carbonate minerals, typically calcite minerals (pure CaCO3) or dolomite (calcium-magnesium carbonate, CaMg[CO3]2), or both.
